March NMQ Meeting recap

Hello everyone!

Wow, what a fun meeting we had Saturday! I handed out a printout of "How to Do a Burn Test to Identify Fibers" -- I thought it was so interesting! If you want that information, you can get it here: SPRUCEQUILTS.COM

Next month, our discussion topic will be: Are quilt blogs dead? I don't think there's a right or wrong answer! I also thought I'd include a little list of upcoming events, and any deadlines we have upcoming -- that will be at the end of the email.

Our rainbow fabric swap was sure good -- and our next swap will be a pincushion swap! We will have partners, so if you would like to participate, please email nebomodernquilters@gmail.com as soon as possible -- I think Denise will be assigning the partners within the next week or so.

Our UFOs were due too -- and it was so fun to see everyone's projects! So many of our projects were more than a couple of years old, and isn't it so nice to get them finished?! Here's mine, already hanging in my stairway:

I hope you have a fun month! We'll be wrapping up most of the school year, finishing soccer and track, and just generally being crazy people -- I think I'll probably need a LOT of quilting therapy, haha!

❤ Natalie :)

February 2019 Meeting recap

Hello! We had our February meeting on Saturday, February 16 at 10:00 am. We were small but mighty!

Our goal to start on time is totally working! We did start at about 10:02, but I think that's okay because sometimes clocks are slow, haha

Our Treasurer, Donna Hansen, would like to remind everyone that dues are due! Dues for the year are staying at $35/year and you can paypal us at nebomodernquilters@gmail.com or write a check to Nebo Modern Quilters and give it to Donna or Natalie.

We have a Charity Board member -- hurray! Tiffany Searle, who was our president last year, agreed to take over the Charity position.

Debbie Camp introduced our Challenge -- it will be for the Color of the Year, using either Kona Splash or the Pantone Color of the Year, which is Living Coral. Quilts must finish at least 36" square, and be COMPLETELY completed.

Denise Hone will introduce our next Swap next month.

Kira Holladay sent around the UFO list again. Remember, you have until April to sign up with your UFOs -- figure out what you want to finish this month! The first UFO will be due in May. If you would like to email your list, you may send it to nebomodernquilters@gmail.com.

Our meeting next month will be Saturday, March 16th, and we are VERY PLEASED to announce that Johnny Barfuss will be coming to do a trunk show! He is a really fun, modern quilter who lives and works just up the road from Utah County. If you're interested in checking out his work, you can link to his Instagram HERE. Also, for our President's minute we will be discussing any trends you see -- in quilting, in colors, in home decor. Be on the lookout!

See you next month! ❤ Natalie :)

NMQ Meeting - Sat., Feb. 16

Hello everyone!

We will have our next Nebo Modern Quilters meeting this Saturday, February 16 at 10:00 am, in the classroom at Corn Wagon Quilt Company. Debbie will unveil our new challenge, and we have a new Charity Board Member! Hurray!

Please also remember to bring your 10-year-challenge quilt/scrapbook page/woodworking project and anything you'd like to show-and-tell. See you Saturday!
♥ Natalie :)

January 2019 Meeting Recap

Welcome to our first official meeting everyone! We will be making lots of changes this year -- some will be obvious and others will be behind the scenes -- but we hope that it will be for the benefit of everyone in the group.

Our first change is -- we are going to focus a lot on starting our meetings on time. We all have lots of responsibilities (and fun!) planned for the weekends, and we appreciate everyone taking time out of their Saturday to come, so we will be starting right at 10:00 am next month.

Our Treasurer, Donna Hansen, would like to remind everyone that dues are due! Dues for the year are staying at $35/year and you can paypal us at nebomodernquilters@gmail.com or write a check to Nebo Modern Quilters and give it to Donna or Natalie.

We do still need someone to be our Charity Board Member. Anyone interested should email Natalie Smith at nebomodernquilters@gmail.com.

Debbie Camp says our next Challenge will be introduced next month!

Kira Holladay sent around the UFO list this month. Remember, you have until March to sign up with your UFOs -- figure out what you want to finish this month! If you would like to email your list, you may send it to nebomodernquilters@gmail.com.

For our President's Minute, we talked for a little bit about something interesting about yourself that others didn't know. Some of us like thrilling podcasts, some of us like sweet romances, and some of us are really quirky -- but we all love quilting!

Next month, we have a little assignment: we are doing the 10-year challenge. Please bring something from 10 years ago that you did -- if you have a quilt, that would be great! But if you don't, you could bring a scrapbook page, a woodworking project, a dissertation -- anything from 10 years ago!

See you next month! ❤ Natalie :)

Welcome to the New Year!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the New Year!

We are changing a few things on the blog (like... the whole blog, haha), so please be patient -- we hope to be fully functional within the month!

Please note -- on the bar above, we have tabs to our current NMQ Board, the UFO list, Charity quilt information, our current Challenge, and Swaps -- as we talk about these things in our monthly meetings, we will be updating those tabs.

And, our old blog will still remain a part of blogger -- you can access that at

We (the Board) are getting excited for a fun new year -- we hope you are too!
